The Shepherds Hut is set remotely in traditional farmland of small enclosures mostly with the ancient hedges still intact. We are also adjacent to a large woodland and the whole area is a haven for a wonderfully wide variety of wildlife. The pond acts as a magnet for all manner of creatures from frogs to deer and everything in-between.

The Hut is set in the corner of a small field, well away from the farmhouse and any other buildings it is totally secluded and private, the site looks out over the beautiful Otter Valley which makes this a most tranquil and relaxing setting.

The interior is warm and cosy even in the coldest weather as there is a super efficient wood burning stove and a supply of logs. The stove can also be used for cooking. The hut is fitted out with everything you need including solar lighting, cool-box, cooking utensils, plates, cutlery washing bowls, storage boxes etc. Only twenty five minutes drive from the Jurassic coast at Beer and Branscombe and within easy reach of both Dartmoor and Exmoor, Tiphayes is an ideal spot for discovering Devon.

There is a bathroom hut adjacent to the Shepherd’s Hut with flushing toilet, wash hand basin and hot shower as well as an outdoor kitchen area on the side with gas hob and a sink for washing up.

The bed has a pocket sprung mattress and is very comfortable, sheets, pillows, pillow cases, duvet and cover, are all supplied and it is all made up freshly for your arrival.

This view is to the East looking out of the main window across the Otter valley. The Shepherds Hut is carefully positioned so as to enjoy total privacy and is completely surrounded by fields.

When you arrive you will be greeted in my office in the garden at The Shippen. There is electricity and a small fridge which you are welcome to use to freeze cooler packs for the coolbox provided. There is also a Campingaz Burner in the Hut for fast boiling of the kettle when the stove is not alight, and spare gaz containers are available, along with fire-lighters and charcoal for the Barbecue.

There is plenty of room to pitch a tent for the kids if required but please be aware of the dangers of the pond which is deep and unfenced.
